খাদ্য লবণ ও বালুর মিশ্রণ হতে এর উপাদান সমূহ পৃথক করা যায়। এ পরীক্ষণে দুইটি পদ্ধতি ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে। যথা:

ক, ছাঁকন (পরিস্রাবণ) ও

খ. বাষ্পীভবন।

বালু মিশ্রিত খাবার লবণ কে খাবার উপযােগী করার প্রক্রিয়া।

বালু মিশ্রিত লবণে পানি যােগ করা হলে লবণ পানিতে দ্রবীভূত হয়ে যায়, কিন্তু বালু দ্রবীভূত হয় না। পরিস্রাবণ ও বাস্পীকরণের সাহায্যে লবণ ও বালুকে পৃথক করা যায়।

পরীক্ষণটি করার জন্য প্রয়ােজনীয় যন্ত্রপাতি :

১. বিকার ২ টি, ২. ফানেল ১ টি, ৩. ফিল্টার পেপার, ৪. কাচদন্ড ১ টি, ৫, ত্রিপদী স্ট্যান্ড, ৬. তারজালি, ৭. স্পিরিট ল্যাম্প, ৮. টেস্টটিউব ১ টি ৯. বেসিন।

রাসায়নিক দ্রব্য:

লবণ ও সিলভার নাইট্রেট (AgNO3) দ্রবণ ।

কার্যপদ্ধতি:

১. একটি কাচের বিকারে বালু মিশ্রিত লবণ নিয়ে তাতে অল্প পানি যােগ করে কাচদন্ড দিয়ে নাড়ি, ফলে লবণ পানিতে দ্রবীভূত হয়ে যাবে । কিন্তু বালু পানিতে দ্রবীভূত হবে না। ২. একটি ফিল্টার পেপার পানিতে সামান্য ভিজিয়ে নিয়ে ফানেলের মধ্যে যথাযথ ভাবে স্থাপন করি।

৩. ফানেলটিকে ২য় বিকারে স্থাপন করি।

৪. ১ম বিকার থেকে বালু মিশ্রিত লবণের দ্রবণ অল্প অল্প করে ফানেলের মধ্যে ঢালি। ফলে ফিল্টার পেপার দিয়ে পরিস্রাবণের মাধ্যমে লবণ মিশ্রিত পানি ফোটায় ফোটায় ২য় বিকারে পড়তে থাকবে।

৫, সম্পূর্ণ দ্রবণ পরিস্রবণ হয়ে গেলে ফানেলটিকে ২য় বিকার থেকে সরিয়ে নেই এবং ফিল্টার পেপার থেকে সামান্য পাতিত পানি দ্বারা বালু ধৌত করে আলাদা করে নেই। ৬. ফিল্টার পেপারের বালুতে লবণ আছে কিনা তা জানার জন্য নিচের ধাপগুলাে অনুসরণ করি।

৭. ত্রিপদী স্ট্যান্ডের উপর তারজালি রাখি এবং লবণ মিশ্রিত সম্পূর্ণ পানি বিকারে নিয়ে বিকারটিকে তারজালির ওপর স্থাপন করি ও স্পিরিট ল্যাম্পের সাহায্যে বিকারটিতে তাপ দিতে থাকি। ফলে পানি বাষ্পীভূত হয়ে উড়ে যাবে কিন্তু লবণ বিকারে থেকে যাবে। এ অবস্থায় বিকারটিতে অল্প পরিমাণ পানি থাকতেই তাপ দেওয়া বন্ধ করি।

৮, লক্ষ্য করি বিকারের তলায় কঠিন জমা হয়েছে।আর এটিই হচ্ছে পরিস্কার লবণ।

সাবধানতা :

১. পরিস্রাবণ করার সময় মিশ্রণটিকে ভালােভাবে থিতিয়ে নিয়ে উপরের পরিষ্কার দ্রবণকে প্রথমে ফিল্টার পেপারে ঢালতে হবে, যেন বেশি বালু ফিল্টার পেপারে জমা না হয়। এতে পরিস্রাবণ দ্রুত ও সহজতর হয়।

২. মিশ্রণকে কাচদন্ড দ্বারা ভালােভাবে নেড়ে সকল বালু ও দ্রবণ ফিল্টার পেপারের ওপর ঢালতে হবে। ৩, বাষ্পীকরণের সময় শেষ পর্যায়ে কিছু পানি থাকতে তাপ প্রয়ােগ বন্ধ করতে হবে যাতে কাচের বিকারটি তাপে ফেটে না যায়।
